Many doctors believe breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I am pretty sure the people at The Sandbox are feeding you breakfast as it if it is the most important meal of your LIFE.
If becoming a Foodie required visiting special sites dedicated to the sacred foods, The Sandbox would be the holy ground of breakfast. These people do it right in so many ways.
This place is doesn't just offer outdoor dining, it requires it. Mandatory alfresco? Sign me up.
The ambiance is untouchable. The dining area is a marriage of a bath house, garage sale and the Pine Barrens.
The food is incredible. As I write this my mouth waters thinking about their pancakes. This isnt just a pancake place...it is Pancake Land...and I am Alice. I would climb down a rabbit hole, up a mountain and battle a dragon to get there pancakes all year.

One of the best breakfasts on the island by far. I even got the AWESOME pancakes on my birthday even when breakfast had stopped being served. Definitely one of my favorites. :)

The crepes and stuffed French toast are to die for! I think I had a spiritual moment (or whatever you want to call it) when I had each of these phenomenal items. The berries in the crepe were so fresh and the strawberries and mango in my French toast are what summer would taste like if it were fruit and not a season. Definitely some of the friendliest staff members on LBI. Any regular will tell you that it is definitely worth the wait. DON’T MISS THE SANDBOX CAFE!

This place makes you feel like you are in Key West. The atmosphere is fun and lively. The food is creative and always perfect. We have been going to LBI for years but finally tried the Sandbox only a few years ago. Now we never miss it when we are in town. The service is great and the people a joy! I feel most restaurants in LBI are just cranking out mediocre food for huge summer crowds but the Sandbox actually cares about what they are serving their customers and for that reason I will go back time and time again….oh and PS…I love the baked egg!!

Friends that summer on LBI said they have never been to The Sandbox! I said “Whaaaaat”???? Told them they MUST get there before they leave! Lunch is great, but BREAKFAST is absolutely THE BEST!!!! Pancakes, pancakes and more pancakes! Or anything else on their menu! Love the place, the people and the food.
    Go. Tomorrow!

The Sandbox Cafe is more than just the most fabulous food! It is that and a bag of chips (or should I say a plate of sizzler)!! The ambiance is captivating from the moment you walk under the first tree that is the “roof”. Decorations abound as you are taken to your table. I dare you to find all there is to look at.

Then ask “What is a sizzler?” Your mouth will water until they bring the hot and fruity fragrance to place setting. It’s a MUST EAT!

I live in Seattle and have considered asking Dana if I can create my own Sandbox Cafe here in Seattle! I miss the sizzler already.

The owner is part of the ambiance too. Her personality is bright and she can always make you happy you came to the Sandbox Cafe. You are never rushed – and because people are so happy there – you tend to talk to the people next to you at once visit or another.

    It’s a must try restaurant!

Hands down, best breakfast ever! I look forward to going to visit every year. I finally brought my fiance with me and he fell in love with the Parm Egg. It’s so hard for me to choose what to get whenever I go, and I usually get a couple of things. The Sizzlers are incredible!!

Thanks Dana and Vinny for being solely responsible for the 7 lbs I gain in 10 days!! WELL WORTH EVERY BITE!!

My friends and I visit the Sandbox every year during our rental and it’s never just one time. The crepes are to die for and the homemade epanillas are delish. We enjoyed having the owner’s son as our server and he was just as friendly and loveable as the place itself. Sandbox rox!

The Sandbox has become a tradition whenever we are on LBI. We’ve tried all the “breakfast places”, but this is by far the best. Great job guys!

Visited for the first time on 6/28/11 on our way for a visit to the Light House from Beach Haven. We were pleasantly surprised we parked right out front. We were seated promptly around 10am. You MUST GO! Fantastic stuffed French Toast with Fresh Peaches. Who can make a bacon and cheddar omelet memorable? The Sandbox does. The homefries are a special tasty treat. On our way home on Saturday we spotted our parking spot right out front at 11:35am. We zipped in jumped out of the car just as the waitress was wiping down the breakfast blackboard. She informed us they had just stopped serving breakfast. Darn we wanted one more memorable breakfast before departing LBI.
